The Don't Fence Me In Trail Run is a beloved community celebration of trails and open space. This volunteer-powered, grassroots event builds awareness and raises support for Montana’s best urban trail system. 
Event Experience 
On race day, 1,600 participants, 200 volunteers, and countless dogs explore Helena’s South Hills trails system on four epic courses. After the race, friends and families enjoyed a trails festival. The 2025 event set participation and revenue records.
