SCBWI A. Orr Fantasy Grant Shortlist
July 2020
In February, I submitted my middle grade novel-in-progress, Fairytooth, to the SCBWI A. Orr Fantasy Grant. The entries were judged by Ginger Clark, Vice-President of the Curtis Brown , Ltd. Agency. I learned this month that my project was on Clark’s shortlist for the prize. I’m elated! Writing and revising a novel takes years, and can feel awfully pointless at times (especially when you’re trying to keep going during a pandemic). Thank you SCBWI and Clark for the invaluable encouragement! No matter what, you have to keep writing and submitting!
Michelle Begley Mentor Program
November 2019 to May 2020
I am so excited to share the news that I will be a mentee in the 2020Michelle Begley Mentor Program. My mentor is the fabulous Claudia Mills, author of the award-winning chapter books series Gus and Grandpa, Franklin School Friends, The Nora Notebooks, and After-School Superstars. Claudia will help me revise my chapter-book-in-progress, The Wonder Kids. I also received the Writing Roosters Scholarship, which will help pay for the cost of this program. Thank you Claudia and Writing Roosters!
